We have a mud kitchen, wobble board, tyre tunnel, picnic area, outdoor blackboards and & two fantastic sandpits. We will be adding a see-saw and balance beam over the coming days. This play space is a fantastic addition to the school that the children (big & small) are going to love. The junior classes will access this space at break & lunchtime. All classes will use the space with their teachers as an outdoor classroom.
We bought seedling plants & herbs and the children helped to plant them yesterday to create colourful sensory zones in the new play space that will appeal to the children's sense of sight, taste, touch & smell. If anyone had any old colourful children's wellies that they are no longer using could you drop them into office. We've a plan for them too in the garden!
We plan to open the existing garden into the new play space. The garden needs a face lift so we hope to get out there painting, pruning & planting with the classes over the coming weeks. Let's hope the sun returns! Work is ongoing but huge thanks goes to everyone who has helped so far to develop this space for our children.
