Physical Activity

Challenges

We love a challenge! To stay active throughout the school year, our pupils have taken on several challenges such as Active Break Every Day, Walk Around Europe, Skip Around Europe and Fyffes Fittest Schools so name a few. Our student council were fantastic leaders when it came to carrying out these challenges. No matter the weather, our pupils showed up. Active challenges help pupils to achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity a day.

Representing Our School

We are so proud of our pupils. They have represented our school so well this year in team and individual sports.

Our Cumann na mBunscol journey was thrilling from start to finish as our boys took on Drumconrath NS in the final in Páirc Tailteann and won in the most exciting game of the entire tournament with a final score of 4-7 to 4-6. Needless to say the celebrations continued on in school for some time.

Our sporting achievements didn’t end there as our pupils represented our school in soccer, rounders, showjumping and cross country athletics.

We look forward to further representing the school with some more rounders games this summer as well as Track and Field Athletics in June.

Our School Grounds

How lucky are we to have such amazing amenities at our school?! The spring and summer months are always a joyful time in our school as we can use our football pitch and all it has to offer. Our sensory garden and playground offer opportunities for our children to explore their imaginative play as well as learning to grow and care for our garden’s plants and flowers.

As part of our Active School Flag application, we have set up a Walkway system within our school grounds also. We use the Walkway for outdoor lessons such as science, maths trails and movement breaks.

External Coaches

We have received brilliant support from external coaches and teachers who specialise in teaching certain parts of the PE curriculum. Click on the below links find out more about what new skills our children learned this year:
